When studying the Bible, to understand the words behind the English translation can be key to opening up the richness of Scripture. It can give another perspective on the Bible and potentially clarify some misunderstandings. However, that may mean the education in foreign languages.
The KJV: Word Study Bible, seeks to give the understanding of words behind the English translations without the need for the reader to study and learn Biblical languages. This allows for deeper study and comprehension of Scripture giving illumination and ideally a catalyst to application.
For example, wisdom in the book of Proverbs, chapter 21 and verse 11, comes from the Hebrew chakam (transliterated). This Hebrew word means “the ability to judge what is right and act on that understanding.” An English reader can then understand that it is not enough to know the right; one must do it. Knowing the word behind the English translation can thus greatly aid in growing and maturing as a Christian.
