Shalom in Psalms by Jeffrey Seif, Glenn Blank, Paul Wilbur

Untitled-2Shalom in Psalms is a devotional put out from three individuals who really want to have Christians understand the Book of Psalms from a Jewish perspective. The authors go through all 150 Psalms drawing out Hebrew words to show the cultural significance of each of the Psalms. Each Psalm is given in its entirety and then a devotional commentary follows highlighting key words or phrases.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Hebraic roots this devotional will give some insight into understanding each Psalm from a Jewish perspective. Also the version use is the Tree of Life Version which if you are not familiar with changes some of the names so that the hebraic Roots come through.

I found this devotional insightful into the Jewish roots of Christianity. However, I will say that there is not much in the area of study. This is more of a primer to draw out certain words and phrases that may not be apparent to an English reader.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
