Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to control your thoughts and behaviors? Sadly there are times when it would be nice to be able to control your thoughts as your mind tends to play tricks on you or, in some cases, becomes your worst enemy.
Why is that? In his book, The Rewired Brain, Dr. Ski Chilton goes into the science of what happens to the brain as it begins to have experiences and thoughts and emotions. He uses his pharmacology and physiology training to give the reader a better understanding of what happens when certain thoughts occur.
He then parallels this to scripture, for he is a Christian, and shows why words are so powerful. He goes into how the Bible mentions over and over mentions again the power of the tongue. By changing the words that we say both externally and internally to ourselves we have the ability to change our thoughts and Behaviors.
I found this book to be really interesting read. I will admit I felt that they were times that the science was relied upon a little too much. However, I think that has more to do with my misunderstandings of just how wonderful the brain is and how masterfully created it was by God. Thus, a great book on how changing your thoughts can change your life.
